My Volunteer Activities
I believe volunteering to your community is important to build you into a better person and bless others. Places I have Volunteered Midnight Run(When I was between age 14 to 18 years old.) As a church group of about 10 people we would go to NYC between the hours of 10 pm and 5 am with several Vans or SUV's with a hot soup cart. The SUV's would be filled with lunch bag meals, hygiene products, clothes, shoes, blankets, and coats. We would drive around the NYC and stop at different locations throughout city. At each stop we would yell out midnight run and the homeless people would come and get a warm drink or soup, lunch bag meal, name off clothes they would need, blankets and some conversation to hear their stories.Nyack Hospital, Nyack NY - 1998 to 2001I volunteered once or twice a week for three years in different parts of the hospital. I delivered flowers and mail to the patients in the hospital. I enjoyed this the most since I could cheer people up with out saying a word. I also organized magazines in the hospital library. I created operating charts at the nursing station in the operating room. I did other clerical work in other departments in the hospital.Men's Bowery Gospel TeamWhile I attended Nyack College I joined the Mens Bowery Gospel Team in either 2000 or 2001 for four months we would go out Friday night to NYC. We would travel down in the college van to NYC and before we made it to the NYC area we would stop and pray for the people we would meet that night and our safe travel. The bowery would have many homeless men and the men living at the bowery would come in and take part in the worship and free food served at the bowery. When we were at the bowery we would sit in or sometimes join in and assist with the worship service, serve meals and assist with bringing together the meal and cleaning up the meal after it was served. fellowship with the people who came in for meals to hear their testimonies and where they are in their life, and we would close our night by praying with the men of the bowery. On the Van ride home would all come together and talk about what encounters we had with men and pray for them.SUNY Delhi Computer Club - 2006 or 2007I joined the computer club at college. One of the activities we participated in was assisting the staff at Delaware County ARC in Delaware County, NY. We helped them learn some of the software on their computers so they could work more effectively.Click Here newspaper article Pioneer Girls at Loudonville Community Church 2008 to 2011I joined the Pioneer Girls to take photos of the girls while in their group activities, and make a scrapbook. I would also assist in the groups where ever they needed helping hands. I worked with the first grade through third grade girls the most.
